For the past few weeks I haven't been able to get automatic updates on my Discover account. I am trying to set account up again and keep getting errors. I've confirmed password is correct.

Aug 05, 2015  I'm having problems with updating some of my Quicken 2015 accounts by downloading information from the - Answered by a verified Tech Support Specialist. Return to base torrent download. I have used Quicken for Mac 2007 for years. When Quicken FINALLY published Quicken for Mac 2015 I purchased and imported my data files. Everything seemed to import successfully.

Download PythonThe first step is to download Python from and select the most recent version to install ( in this case 3.5.1).On the next page, scroll to the bottom of the page, you will then see a table that looks like this:You should select “ Windows x86-64 executable installer” assuming you have a 64bit system. Note: You must ensure that you select Add Python 3.5 to PATH and then select Install Now.If the setup ran successfully, you should see a message “ Setup was successful message.” Close and continue with the next steps. (why wouldn’t you?) Install PythonOnce it has downloaded, double-click on the installer, you will be presented with the following. Install wfdb for mac. Save it to somewhere that is easily accessible from your desktop. Installing and Testing PIPPIP is a package management system for Python, so you will want to install this handy tool to make your life simpler. To install PIP first head over to “Get PIP,” you will see something like this:Right-click on the link “ get-pip.py” and select “ Save Link As”.

    Hello @titanrx8
Thank you for taking the time to report this error to the Community, although I apologize for any frustration or inconvenience experienced.
I attempted to add an account with Discover Bank in my Quicken data file using fake login credentials to test the connection.
Instead of the invalid login error I should have received, I instead also received the error message that the 'system is unavailable', which led me to review the log files and internal communications between Quicken and the Discover Bank server.
Quicken is making the correct call and request to Discover, but the Discover server is responding with the highlighted error message below.
Since this error message originates from the Financial Institution server, I would recommend contacting Discover Bank directly to report this error and request it be escalated to their OFX Team to resolve.
When calling I would recommend providing the Agent with a copy of your OFX Log which demonstrates the error message being sent from the server and should help them in their investigation of this issue.
If needed, the OFX Log may be found in the Quicken Help menu > Log Files.
Unfortunately, the Quicken Support teams do not have access to any Financial Institution server and are unable to resolve this error from our side of the connection.
I hope this information is helpful and please let us know how it goes with Discover.
    Thank you,
    Sarah

Sarah isn't 'saying' it's a Discover problem .. she PROVED it with the OFX log.
Go back to Discover and offer to send them a copy of the OFX log.
Banks/cards/etc ALWAYS try to claim it's Quicken's problem .. even when the evidence demonstrates otherwise. Don't let them get away with this BS.

  • My wife and I have multiple bank, CD and credit card with Discover. The download failures started about 2 weeks ago. Only affecting my bank accounts, not the credit card or any of my wife's accounts.
This evening, I Deactivated then Reactivated the the Online Services for my savings account and re-linked to the existing account in Quicken. For some reason, the connection method was downgraded to Web Connect.
I tried to Re-set up the original Direct Connect for this account and once again received the following error report
  • Based on the additional information 'The system is unavailable right now' .. have you tried again a few hours later?
    Here's some more info: https://www.quicken.com/support/error-when-using-online-services-ol-301
Are you sure that all accounts are connected using the same download protocol, preferably Direct Connect, and not a mix of protocols (Direct Connect, Express Web Connect, Web Connect)?

  • Regarding system unavailable this has been occurring for a couple of weeks at various times of day only on the one account so it's not likely that the system is really not available.
All of the accounts were successfully set up and using Direct Connect for many years without issues. For the one problem account I Deactivated then Reactivated the the online services and it set itself as Web Connect. When I tried to reset as Direct Connect is when I received the above OL-301 error.
I'm taking a look at the link you posted.
    Thanks.

  • Thanks for your message Sarah. Unfortunately Discover says it’s a Quicken issue and you’re saying it’s a Discover error. It’s close to impossible to get a customer service agent to agree they’re the problem

  • @NotACPA I appreciate the guidance to refer the logs to Discover and I will pull the log on the next session.
Logically, the 'system unavailable right now' is either an incorrect error message or at the very least inaccurate. Here's why.
I have the following accounts at Discover:
    2 x Money Market

One set of Savings and Money Market use one set of credentials. The other 3 accounts use a different set of credentials.
In one Direct Connect Session, the 2 accounts with the same credentials update properly. The three accounts with the other set of credentials, only the credit card updates properly. It seems unlikely that the system was available for 1 Savings, 1 Money Market and the credit card, but not the other Savings and Money Market. The credentials worked for the Credit Card so they were not rejecting the credentials. (and the credentials work when I log in at their website)
Maybe the system unavailable message is Discover's catchall excuse but I don't think it will point them in the right direction for these 2 accounts.
    Checking with them tomorrow.

There's no need to wait until the next session. It's available NOW.
The log stays around for quite a while .. it's not 'download session dependent' in any way.
Also, with different sets of credentials, you'll have multiple sessions recorded in the OFX log for each day. Be sure that you examine all of them.
HELP, Log Files, OFX Log. Save it to your desktop, and then open it with NotePad or WordPad (NOT MS Word).
Search UP from the bottom of the list for your most recent Discover events.
